President Tinubu Has Approved Upgrade of Ibadan Airport to Int’l – Gov. Makinde

The Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the upgrade of Ibadan Airport to International ‘Runway’.

Mr. Makinde disclosed this when the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar and his entourage paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday.

He noted that the visit gave him the opportunity to restate his gratitude to the officers of the Nigerian Air Force for their contributions to securing Oyo State as part of ‘Operation Burst’.

“We discussed the upcoming construction of the Air Force base in Ajia and I stated that our administration has paid compensation to those affected by the development and resumed the reconstruction of the 21 km Airport-Ajia-New Ife Express Road with a spur to Amuloko to ease movement in that area,” the governor stated on X, formerly Twitter.

He added: “I also talked about our plans to expand our economy and said that we have received approval from His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to upgrade the Ibadan Airport into an international airport. We will be expanding the runway and building an additional terminal.”
